Jim Miller, Ph.D. Joins Insmed Therapeutic Proteins as Vice President of Process Development

RICHMOND, Va., July 28, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Insmed Inc. (Nasdaq: INSM), a developer of follow-on biologics and biopharmaceuticals, today announced that Jim Miller, Ph.D. has joined Insmed's management team as Vice President of Process Development. Dr. Miller will play an important role in the development of Insmed Therapeutic Proteins' emerging portfolio of follow-on biologics. 

Dr. Miller, 56, brings over 25 years of experience in biopharmaceutical product research and preclinical development to his new position. Prior to joining Insmed, he served as Executive Vice President of Product Development at Saronyx, Inc., a private life sciences company that he also co-founded. Dr. Miller earlier held senior development, operations and research positions at both Reneneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and Amgen. His strategic and management expertise, which center around the biopharmaceutical development process, includes team management, research design and implementation, strategic planning, product development, and product marketing. 

Dr. Miller received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the California Institute of Technology and performed his Postdoctoral work at Yale University School of Medicine. He has been published on numerous occasions in well-respected scientific periodicals, including The Journal of Neuroscience, The Archive of Biochemistry and Biophysics and The Journal of Molecular Biology.
